The unique range of Ventomat air valves have been sold in Australia since 1997 and installed by major authorities and councils in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Northern Territory, Hobart and most areas in between.

Surge Analysis

The following Surge programs model Ventomat air valves.

Watham (Australia)

Simulates the transient behaviour of water supply distribution networks.

The specialised tool simulates most enclosed pipe hydraulic installations likely to be met in practice.

It is most often used to assess and protect systems from damage caused by pressure surges.  In systems that transport a very large water mass WATHAM can be used to assess how long it takes the system to respond to equipment changes driven by the automation controls.

WATHAM handles most combinations of:

  • Pipes
  • Reservoirs (Tanks)
  • Pumping stations and pumps
  • Restrictions
  • Check Valves
  • Control valves
  • Pressure relief valves
  • Surge tanks
  • Pressure vessels
  • Air cushions
  • Air valves
  • Anti-vacuum valves
  • Vent-O-Mat TM air release valves
  • Small diameter Standpipes

AFT Impulse (USA)

AFT Impulse™ offers the ease-of-use of a drag-and-drop interface and built-in waterhammer modeling expertise. AFT Impulse helps you design and operate your systems with greater reliability and safety by avoiding the potentially catastrophic effects of waterhammer and other undesirable system transients.

Surge 2000 (kypipe, USA)

Pipe2000 develops and markets inexpensive but powerful pipe system modeling software including Pressure Surge analysis to evaluate pressure transients and protection schemes using air valves and other devices. Download a Demo version and audio/video tutorials.

Hytran (New Zealand )

Hytran has been developed for the more common type of pipelines found in Civil Engineering

projects such as water supply and sewage. It has been adapted to other applications such as;

  • Complex fire protection system sin long tunnels
  • Jet refueling ring mains at the Hong Kong International Airport
  • Fuel transfer from tankers <-> tank farms
  • eothermal projects
  • Pumping to reinjection wells
  • Ocean outfall with wave action

TransAM (Canada)

HydraTek and Associates Inc. was founded in 1989 to provide consulting engineering services for problems involving water hammer in pipe systems.  To date, HydraTek has completed over 200 water hammer projects in a diverse range of pipe systems such as water distribution networks, water transmission systems, sewerage force mains, airport jet fuel supply networks and hydroelectric installations.  With its base in Toronto (Canada), HydraTek globally offers comprehensive hydraulic modelling, analysis and design recommendations for a variety of complex hydraulic systems.  HydraTek’s TransAM software package is a “fixed-grid” method of characteristics based simulation model that encodes a variety of numerical and physical developments; including the ability to properly simulate Vent-O-Mat’s three stage air valve.
